The information campaign “SAFE ON THE ROAD WITH AN E-SCOOTER” is dedicated to road safety when using and riding electric scooters—a topic that has become increasingly urgent due to their growing popularity and the rising number of traffic accidents.
The goal of the campaign is to promote a culture of responsibility among users of these vehicles—most often young people—by providing practical information and advice, and to contribute to safer road behavior. The campaign highlights 10 key safety rules for riding an electric scooter.
Organized by the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ), the campaign was carried out in partnership with the General Directorate National Police at the Ministry of Interior, the Guarantee Fund, and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.
As part of the initiative, a safety video and a digital brochure were produced and remain available on the ABZ website. With the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science, adapted educational materials were distributed to schools across Bulgaria, making them accessible to teachers and students. These materials are also publicly available on the ABZ website for use by all interested parties.
The campaign is part of a broader European initiative bringing together insurance associations and road safety institutions from 13 countries. It is supported by Insurance Europe and included as an activity under the “Together for Children’s Road Safety” initiative of the insurance associations from Central and Eastern Europe. Within this framework, and with the support of the Austrian Road Safety Board, a joint video with safety advice for e-scooter use was produced, with language versions adapted for each participating country.
