ABZ’s Participation in the European Road Safety Days Initiative by ROADPOL

The European initiative “Road Safety Days” has been held annually since 2016 under the auspices of ROADPOL – the European Roads Policing Network. Supported by the European Commission and dedicated to the European Mobility Week, the initiative brings together national governments, municipal and local authorities, and non-governmental organizations from across Europe.

Each year, a national date is designated as the European Day Without a Road Death. The aim is to promote the key message of reducing fatalities from serious road traffic accidents across Europe and in Bulgaria. The initiative is coordinated in Bulgaria by the General Directorate National Police at the Ministry of Interior.

Road safety is among ABZ’s top priorities, particularly given that Bulgaria consistently ranks among the EU countries with the highest road fatality rates per capita. Through its participation in the Road Safety Days and by organizing campaigns under the motto “Stay Alive! Save Lives!”, ABZ seeks to draw public attention to the importance of responsible behavior on the road, to remind citizens of well-known rules, and to highlight their vital role in saving lives and preventing tragedies.
