BULSTRAD LIFE: INITIATIVE “TALES OF KINDNESS 2024”

The funds for this initiative were provided by the Vienna Insurance Group as part of the Günter Geyer Award for Social Conscience, which Bulstrad Life received in 2023 for its longstanding support and development of social initiatives. The company donated EUR 20,000 to five non-governmental organizations and their projects.

Objectives

  • Support NGOs through financial assistance
  • Improve the quality of life of various vulnerable groups in Bulgaria
  • Promote sustainable and long-term social initiatives
  • Raise public awareness of the activities of NGOs

Tasks

  • Selection of NGOs based on criteria such as clearly defined goals, concrete action plans, expected results, sustainability, and social relevance
  • Provision of financial support for the implementation of selected projects
  • Visits to the organizations and presentation of donation checks (or sending of the checks)
  • Public presentation of the selected initiatives through news shared on the company’s corporate website and social media channels

Target groups: vulnerable groups including children with rare diseases and their families; disadvantaged children; children with special educational needs; and elderly people.

Activities Implemented

Life with Down Syndrome Foundation

Donation amount: BGN 7,000

Production, editing, and dissemination of 7 educational videos portraying the daily life of a family raising a child with Down syndrome.

St. Nicholas National Fund

  • Donation amount: BGN 7,200
  • Funding for teachers in literature, mathematics, and special needs education for children with disabilities at a family-type residential center in Samokov.

Health and Social Development Foundation (HESED)

  • Donation amount: BGN 10,000
  • Provision of one healthy meal per day for 20 children aged 3–4 attending an alternative kindergarten at the MIR Center in Samokov for one year.

For Our Future Foundation

  • Donation amount: BGN 5,000
  • Launch of the program “Two Hands, One World: Sports for Children with Brachial Plexus Injuries”, providing access to various sports activities for children with such disabilities.

Northwest Project Foundation

  • Donation amount: BGN 10,000
  • Restoration of the community kitchen in the village of Lyutibrod, providing meals for elderly and vulnerable people in 17 villages in the Mezdra region.

Results

Life with Down Syndrome Foundation – the first series of educational videos has been produced, aimed at raising awareness and fostering acceptance of people with Down syndrome.

St. Nicholas National Fund – improvement in the education of children with special educational needs, especially in preparation for key exams.

Health and Social Development Foundation – ensured healthy meals for 20 children for a full year, contributing to their physical and psychological development.

For Our Future Foundation – organization of sports activities for children with brachial plexus injuries, helping improve mobility of the affected arm and their overall condition.

Northwest Project Foundation – restoration of the community kitchen, ensuring food for elderly and vulnerable people in 17 villages in the Mezdra region.
