From 16 to 20 October, the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC), in partnership with the Atanas Burov Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), held the 21st edition of its educational programme “The Non-Banking Financial Sector in Bulgaria.” The training covered topics such as pension insurance, fintech business models, types of insurance, crypto-assets, the introduction of new European regulations – MiCA and DORA – online investment security, financial instruments on the capital market, and stock exchange trading on the BSE.
ABZ is a longstanding partner of the FSC in this proven and high-value educational initiative. As part of the programme, on 17 October 2023, Nina Kolchakova, Secretary General of the Association of Bulgarian Insurers, met with the students to present the current state and trends of the insurance market in Bulgaria and across Europe. She also introduced the specifics of insurance activity, the different types of insurance products, and the essence and benefits they bring to individual and societal well-being.
“Improving financial and insurance literacy is among ABZ’s key strategic priorities, and we develop and support a variety of initiatives in this direction. It is no coincidence that the association actively engages with you – young people – because it is you who will be entering and living in a complex world, defined by dynamic changes and increasing risks. One of the leading factors that will determine your ability to successfully ‘navigate’ life is your level of financial literacy,” emphasized Nina Kolchakova during her lecture.
