With the Campaign “Stay Alive! Protect Life!”, ABZ Joins ROADPOL's Road Safety Days Initiative (16–22 September)

The Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ), in partnership with the Guarantee Fund, took part in the Road Safety Days initiative (16–22 September) organized by ROADPOL – the European Roads Policing Network. ROADPOL designated 21 September as the European Day Without a Road Death, an event held in Bulgaria under the patronage of the Minister of the Interior.

Improving road safety is among the top priorities for ABZ, particularly given the fact that Bulgaria consistently ranks highest in Europe in terms of road fatalities per capita. In 2021, 556 people lost their lives and 7,576 were injured in 6,052 serious road accidents across the country. Key factors that influence road safety include the state of road infrastructure, the technical condition of vehicles, and the behavior of road users. While it is difficult to directly affect infrastructure, it is certainly our responsibility to follow traffic rules and maintain our vehicles in proper working order.

The ABZ and Guarantee Fund's road safety campaign “Stay Alive! Protect Life!” ran from 16 to 22 September in a fully digital format – primarily via ABZ’s official Facebook and LinkedIn pages. The aim of the campaign was to raise public awareness about road safety, to encourage people to reflect on the risks they face on the road, how to avoid them, and how they themselves can contribute to reducing traffic incidents. As part of the campaign, information was also provided about the types of insurance that can help mitigate the consequences of a road accident.
