The anniversary exhibition “140 Years of Insurance in Bulgaria” was organized by the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ) and is dedicated to two important milestones celebrated in 2022 – 140 years of insurance in Bulgaria and 30 years since the founding of ABZ.
The exhibition traces the development of the insurance industry in Bulgaria – from its inception in the late 19th century to the present day. It highlights key milestones in the evolution of insurance in the country, richly illustrated with historical visuals, interesting facts, and stories from the Bulgarian insurance landscape. The exhibition includes numerous photographs, publications, archival and regulatory documents, statistical data, and insights into the industry's contribution to Bulgaria’s economic and social development.
The exhibition was officially unveiled on 19 September 2022 in the open-air Crystal Garden Gallery, where it was on public display for ten days. The opening ceremony featured Konstantin Velev, Chairperson of the ABZ Management Board, and Vladimir Savov, Deputy Chairperson of the Financial Supervision Commission. The exhibition’s curator, Gergana Ivanova, presented interesting details about its content.
In his welcome address, Konstantin Velev stated: “Bulgarian insurance is deeply intertwined with the country’s historical processes. Over the years, it has endured crises and challenges, emerging stronger and upholding its socially significant mission with dignity. This exhibition demonstrates the connection between tradition and the future, rooted in enduring values and the industry’s contribution to economic and social development.”
