In connection with the upcoming adoption of the euro as Bulgaria’s official currency, the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ) has published a new informational resource: “The Euro and Insurance Services: 15 Questions and Answers.” The aim is to provide citizens with complete clarity and reassurance regarding the effects of the currency transition in the context of insurance.
The material explains in an accessible way how the conversion from levs to euro will affect insurance contracts, how policy amounts will be calculated, what dual price display in levs and euro means, and what rights consumers have during the dual circulation period. Special attention is given to the guarantees for consumer protection — no hidden costs, no need to renew contracts, and no changes in insurance product conditions.
Nikolay Stanchev, Chairperson of the Management Board of ABZ, emphasized: “The insurance sector is fully prepared for the euro adoption. The transition will be organized to be transparent, clear, and seamless for consumers. Euro adoption does not change the parameters of insurance coverage — contracts remain valid with no additional actions required from clients.”
Insurance companies, members of ABZ, have also published information on the topic on their websites, and their employees are prepared to answer questions and assist clients at every stage of the process.
