ABZ Welcomed Students from the “Insurance and Social Work” Program at UNWE

Students from the “Insurance and Social Work” program at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) visited the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ), where an off-site practical training session was held.

The event was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Dimitrova, Deputy Head of the Department of Human Resources and Social Protection, with the aim of giving students studying the subject “Insurance” the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the ABZ and its role in the development of the sector.

The Association was represented by Nina Kolchakova, Secretary General of the ABZ, and Rositsa Vartonik, Public Relations Adviser.

In her welcome address, Nina Kolchakova emphasized that one of the ABZ’s main priorities is strengthening cooperation between the insurance sector and higher education institutions. She spoke about the origins and development of insurance through the centuries, presenting interesting facts from the history of Bulgarian insurance, as well as up-to-date information about the Association’s activities and the state of the insurance market in the country.

Rositsa Vartonik familiarized the students with the ABZ’s efforts to improve insurance literacy in society and presented key findings from the association’s national study “Attitudes Toward Insurance and Insurance Literacy.”

The students showed great interest in the topics presented, asked questions, and shared their impressions from the meeting.

At the end of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Dimitrova expressed her gratitude to the management and team of the ABZ for the fruitful partnership, which serves as an example of the strong connection between education and business in the field of insurance. She noted that the practical training conducted is directly related to the topics studied at UNWE and is highly beneficial for the students’ professional preparation.
