For the sixth year in а row, eight insurance associations from Central Europe are joining forces in a joint initiative for children's road safety and the prevention of road accidents. The campaign is held around the European Mobility Week and aims to draw the attention of children and adults to safe behavior on the road.
Children are among the most vulnerable road users. That is why the insurance sector, road safety organizations, government institutions, and educational organizations from Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia are once again standing behind the common cause of safer roads for children.
The main message of the initiative is simple – each of us has a role to play in ensuring children's safety on the road. In different countries, partners organize campaigns, educational games, demonstrations, and events that promote knowledge and safe behavior and help prevent road accidents involving children.
The initiatives vary – from events and practical activities to digital platforms and social media campaigns – but the goal is one: to equip children with the knowledge and habits that help them stay safe on the road every day.
Children also learn from our example on the road
As an active participant in the initiative, ABZ plans to conduct a digital campaign aimed at parents and the personal example they set for their children with their behavior on the road. Because children learn the rules not only when we explain them – they observe how we ourselves follow them every day.
A new edition of the educational quiz "No Mistakes on the Road" is also forthcoming, through which children can learn more about the rules and safe behavior on the road in a fun and accessible way and test their knowledge.
The initiative of the insurance associations from Central Europe "Together for Children's Road Safety" is part of the joint efforts to reduce road accidents and their severe consequences. Despite the progress made in recent years, the number of road fatalities in Europe remains high. The European goal is clear – zero road fatalities.
Observing speed limits, using seat belts, and properly securing children in the car are among the main measures to prevent serious accidents. The use of electric scooters, which are increasingly linked to accidents, also poses a growing risk. Equally important remains the basic rule – never drive a vehicle after consuming alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
To make the roads safer for children and for all of us, everyone's contribution is needed. Let's talk to our children and loved ones about road safety rules, follow them ourselves, and encourage others to do the same.
