ABI Participates in the Conference “Current Issues in Insurance and Social Security – 2025” at D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov

The National Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Insurance and Social Security – 2025” brought together representatives of the business community and academia at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov on October 10–11. Along with the host institution, the event was co-organized by the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABI), the Bulgarian Association of Supplementary Pension Security Companies (BASPSC), the Guarantee Fund (GF), the Association of Insurance Brokers in Bulgaria (AIBB), and the Prof. Dr. Veleslav Gavriyski Foundation.

The scientific forum was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rumen Yerusalimov – Dean of the Faculty of Finance and member of the Management Board of the ABI. He described the importance of the conference as a “bridge between theory and practice” in insurance and social security, recalling the historical roots of insurance education in Bulgaria, which were laid precisely in Svishtov back in 1938.

Greetings to the organizers and participants were also delivered by Nikolay Stanchev, Chair of the Management Board of the ABI, who emphasized that “cooperation between the academic community and the insurance sector is key to developing a stable, innovative, and socially responsible market.” He expressed gratitude to the hosts from the Academy for their consistent efforts in supporting the training of young professionals in the field of insurance.

During the plenary session of the conference, Nikolay Stanchev also presented a report on the topic “Digitalization and Innovation: Problems and Solutions.” In his address, he highlighted the role of technological innovation in improving efficiency and transparency within the sector, as well as the challenges related to data protection and the management of emerging risks. The report outlined the key priorities of the insurance industry in the context of accelerated digital transformation.

Over the two-day forum (October 10–11, 2025), more than 70 participants – experts, lecturers, students, and doctoral candidates – discussed major issues and trends in insurance and social security. The event once again reaffirmed the role of the Svishtov Academy as a center of knowledge, innovation, and partnership between academia and business.
