Plamen Shinov, Deputy Chair of the Management Board of the Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ), took part in the 11th Annual Conference “Safe Road Infrastructure”, organized by the Bulgarian Branch Association “Road Safety”. The event, held on 18–19 September 2025 in Plovdiv, brought together representatives of institutions, experts from Bulgaria and abroad, academia, and the business community to exchange knowledge and good practices in the field of road safety.
In his presentation, Plamen Shinov outlined key data and market trends related to Motor Third Party Liability (MTPL) insurance in Bulgaria. He noted that the overall coverage rate under the compulsory insurance remains high. The presentation included data on the evolution of average MTPL premiums over the past decade, claim frequency, and the average cost of paid claims—both for property damage and bodily injury—presented in comparison with trends observed in other European countries.
During the forum, Shinov also highlighted ABZ’s flagship road safety initiatives, including educational and awareness campaigns targeted at children, young people, and the general public. He emphasized the Association’s active involvement in European initiatives and cross-sector partnerships that promote responsible behavior on the road.
The conference reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between institutions, business, and the non-governmental sector in building safer road infrastructure and implementing innovative solutions and best European practices in the Bulgarian context.
