The Association of Bulgarian Insurers (ABZ) has established a Strategic Council as a new advisory body and introduced the position of Director General through amendments to the Association’s Articles of Association, adopted by the General Assembly on 25 June 2026.
The Strategic Council will serve as a forum for discussing strategic issues related to the development of the insurance sector and the activities of ABZ. It will facilitate the exchange of expertise, the analysis of trends and challenges facing the insurance market, and the development of common positions on issues of importance to both the market and the Association. The Council brings together representatives of all full and associate members of ABZ.
As part of the further development of ABZ’s governance structure, the position of Director General has been introduced, building on the former role of Secretary General and reflecting the expanded scope of responsibilities related to the management of the Association. Nina Kolchakova will continue to serve in this role, leading the ABZ Secretariat, coordinating the implementation of decisions adopted by the Association’s governing bodies, and managing relations with national and international institutions and partner organisations.
The amendments are intended to strengthen the Association’s governance, encourage more active member participation in setting its strategic priorities, and further enhance ABZ’s institutional capacity.
